Our team closely follows the latest trends and best products to deliver the top-notch custom remodeling services our customers expect. Two of the biggest bathroom remodeling trends we have noticed in recent years are the demand for watertight showers and the use of technologically advanced bathroom fixtures.

Waterproof Showers:

It is very important to waterproof your shower as backer boards, cement boards, sealers, and grouts are not waterproof. If showers are not waterproof, water will linger in certain areas and cause mold to build up. Waterproof showers not only keep your bathroom looking clean by preventing mold and mildew, but they also extend the life of your shower system. AC Remodeling's bathroom projects use a 100% waterproof shower system on the walls and floor. Our preferred system is the Schluter-KERDI-SHOWER-KIT, which contains all of the components necessary to create a fully waterproof and vapor-tight shower. There's more...

While there are many different cabinet designs and materials to choose from, AC Remodeling uses only high quality products and designs when installing custom kitchen cabinets. We recommend the following four cabinet designs when constructing your dream kitchen:

1. Full Wood Construction
We advise all of our clients to choose cabinets with plywood construction, not particle board. Plywood holds screws tightly, is less susceptible to water damage, is stainable and paintable, and is overall stronger than particle board. Plywood also weighs less than particle board, making it easier to hang large cabinets. Plywood does come at a higher cost than particle board, but it's the better choice when it comes to durable cabinets that have a pleasing appearance and feel.

And with so many smart home innovations on the market today, it only makes sense to incorporate some of these convenient, eco-friendly devices into your home remodeling projects.

In this article, we’ll discuss our favorite smart home devices to help the planet and make your kitchen or bathroom more convenient and luxurious.

Top Technologies to Make Your Home More Convenient & Luxurious

While some smart home devices are designed with eco-friendliness in mind, many of today’s intelligent devices are also designed to increase your comfort and make your home feel more convenient or luxurious.

Smart Technology to Make Your Remodeled Bathroom Feel Like a Spa

Most people are looking for a little luxury when they embark on a bathroom remodeling project, and modern technology has an array of options to help with that dream. One of our favorite smart devices is the toilet with a built-in LED nightlight to help you navigate the bathroom without disturbing your sleep. Other smart toilets incorporate not only lighting but heated seats, bidets, self-cleaning technology, and even motion sensors to raise or lower the toilet seat for you. We all use the bathroom, so why not make it more convenient and even fun?

One of the most important kitchen design decisions you’ll make is choosing the right countertop material for your lifestyle.

Before setting out on your search, consider the following questions: Are you looking for an easy to maintain countertop? Are beauty and style a priority? Are you concerned about scratches or stains?

Alex Reyes, owner of AC Remodeling, a renovation company in Gaithersburg, MD, says that countertops often play center stage in kitchens. They should reflect beauty and meet performance expectations.

“If you’re a young couple with small kids,” he said, “you should think about selecting a countertop that is durable and can withstand spills, scratches and heat. If you are retired and care about aesthetics, you may consider buying a maintenance-free countertop rich with luxurious colors.”

Some countertop materials accomplish both functionality and decor.

Reyes suggests consumers consider purchasing countertops with one of three surface materials: Quartz, Granite or Quartzite.

You fantasized about renovating your bathroom with the latest features—an egg-shaped bathtub, a glass basin, a granite countertop. But you never imagined having to remodel your bathroom because of toilet leaks, falling tiles and musty smells.

When your bathroom is ravaged by water damage, remodeling can’t wait!

Many homeowners know their bathrooms have water problems but don’t do anything about it, says Alex Reyes, president of AC Remodeling, a home remodeling company based in Gaithersburg, Md.

“Ignoring early signs of water damage in your bathroom can be detrimental,” he points out. “A water damaged foundation is expensive to repair and can lead to mold growth, rotting wood and structural damage. It must be treated promptly to avoid further damage.”
